We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team based in Guildford. The ideal candidate will join a team responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role requires a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Tasks

• Help manage the routine maintenance and repairs on our facility systems including HVAC systems for offices and cleanrooms.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical breakdowns and alarms, and plumbing issues.

• Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential problems.

• Help develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimise equipment downtime.

• Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to the business.

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

• Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.

• Assist in the planning and execution of facility improvement projects.

• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for major repairs and installations.

• Help monitor and optimise energy usage to reduce costs and environmental impact.

• Help implement energy-efficient practices and technologies.

• Work closely with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.

• Provide technical support and training to staff as needed.

• Provision of out of hours support for the sites and facilities.

Previous Experience

• Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.

• Practical skills or trade experience in mechanical or electrical engineering.

• Experience of troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems,

• Experience of using mechanical and electrical test equipment.

Qualifications Knowledge & Skills

Nebosh Diploma or IOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health would be a advantageous

A full driving licence – required for travel between sites.

Ability to attain a Security Clearance would be advantageous.

A degree or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline

• Guildford, Surrey with regular visits to SSTL’s manufacturing facility in Bordon, Hampshire.
