Facilities Engineer (Contract)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team based in Guildford. The ideal candidate will join a team responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role requires a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Tasks
- Help manage the routine maintenance and repairs on our facility systems including HVAC systems for offices and cleanrooms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical breakdowns and alarms, and plumbing issues.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential problems.
- Help develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimise equipment downtime.
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to the business.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in the planning and execution of facility improvement projects.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for major repairs and installations.
- Help monitor and optimise energy usage to reduce costs and environmental impact.
- Help implement energy-efficient practices and technologies.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide technical support and training to staff as needed.
- Provision of out of hours support for the sites and facilities.
Previous Experience
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Practical skills or trade experience in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Experience of troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems,
- Experience of using mechanical and electrical test equipment.
Qualifications Knowledge & Skills
Nebosh Diploma or IOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health would be a advantageous
A full driving licence – required for travel between sites.
Ability to attain a Security Clearance would be advantageous.
A degree or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline

- Guildford, Surrey with regular visits to SSTL’s manufacturing facility in Bordon, Hampshire.
